Our History

The Salty Siren was born from a shared love of the ocean and the incredible food it provides. Founded in 2020 by Chef Anya Petrova and seafood expert David Mkhize, our journey began with a small food stall at the vibrant V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Inspired by the diverse cultures and abundant marine life of the region, we set out to create dishes that celebrated the unique flavors of the South African coast.

Over the years, we've grown from a local favorite to a renowned online resource, sharing our recipes, culinary insights, and the stories of the fishermen and communities that make this cuisine so special.
